Noel Gallagher weighs in on “American idiots” Taylor Swift & Scooter Braun

The feud between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun has taken the music industry by storm these past few weeks, and now Noel Gallagher has given his two cents.

It all started when Swift penned an open letter, criticising Big Machine label head Scott Borchetta for selling his label to Scooter Braun, meaning that a man she hated would now have ownership of her masters up to Reputation.

Borchetta’s response was backed by Braun’s clients including Justin Bieber, and others including Demi Lovato and Halsey, while Halsey and Todrick Hall are firmly in camp Swift.

In an interview with Variety, Gallagher called both Swift and Braun “American Idiots”, before comparing their fued to his own with brother Liam and eventual departure from Oasis.

“You don’t own your own f—ing shit, which is why when I finally left Oasis, I started my own record label, because I wanted to own them,” he said.

“But I’m aware of the story of Taylor Swift and some idiot called fuckng Scooter.

“Scooter? Is that even a real name? [he adopts an American surfer accent.] ‘Scooter. Fucking Scooter.’

“Um, I’m not a fan of Taylor Swift. I’m less of a fan of Scooter Brown or whatever his fucking name is.

“They’re just American idiots. Which, really, I’d be fucking ashamed of them, if I were you.”

So there you have it, classic Gallagher.

Head here for a deeper dive into the fued and why it matters to the industry.
