Over $5K Of Equipment Stolen From Indigenous Rights Band Dispossessed

Sydney band and indigenous rights activists Dispossessed have had more than $5,000 worth of gear stolen after performing in their home city at the weekend.

Guitarist Serwah Attafuah has taken to Facebook to explain that a long list of the group’s belongings (including drums, guitars and guitar pedals) were stolen after they performed as part of Bad Festival at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville on Saturday night, 15th October.

Attafuah is understandably furious at the situation, and has followed up the post with a direct message to whomever stole the gear, saying, “You didn’t just steal my guitar, you stole my voice cunt.”

Attafuah has put the word out to be on the hunt for “sus cunts” in the area carrying black bags, which the gear was stored in. The band have also launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign to help them get back to making music sooner rather than later.

Dispossessed are informed by their indigenous heritage and motivated by a desire to create a “world of peace, stability and harmony”, so whoever has silenced them has really f*cked up.
