Seminal punk rock legends Pixies are back with a bag of new tunes!
They’ve just announced the imminent arrival of their first album in three years, dubbed Beneath the Eyrie (not sure if Game Of Thrones reference), which is due to drop on Friday, 13th September.
Their eighth studio album will feature 12 songs centred around the subject matter of “witches, Daniel Boone, misfits” and generally haunted sh*t, and it’s first cut ‘On Graveyard Hill’ is no exception.
Described by the band as “an in-your-face, classic Pixies tale of imminent, ominous doom”, the single is an eerie, up-tempo rocker, which sounds like it would fit perfectly into the soundtrack of a supernatural horror flick or TV show.
It’d be the song that plays in the scene just before shit hits the fan for the heroes. You’ll know what we mean when you hear it.
The new disc was helmed by Grammy-nominated Ghost producer Tom Dalgety, and will be preceded by a 12-episode podcast dubbed It’s a Pixies Podcast .
The first ep is due to drop on June 27th, with each instalment diving into the songwriting, recording and production process of each track on Beneath the Eyrie.
Meanwhile, according to an official press release from their record label, Pixies will support Beneath the Eyrie with “an extensive 2019- 2020 world tour” with dates TBA soon.
The band’s last Australian tour was back in 2017, so hopefully a new LP means new Aussie dates are also in the pipeline!
