Please welcome Sydney’s First Lady of Noir Soul – Donné

Sydney’s First Lady of Noir Soul, Donné will release her sublime new EP, Act II on 26th October 2009.

Act II is the second of two EPs released this year in a similar vein, in which Donné’s theatrical vocal stylings are complimented by luscious strings and Tony Buchen’s vintage production aesthetic.

Dark, spacious and evocative, Act II showcases this truly unique artist. Her voice seems as though from another time; Donné takes old-soul for a walk in the light of the moon, giving it a mysterious glow and shadow.

Still fresh from the East Coast tour that launched her first EP, Act I, Donné is excited to be taking a whole new swag of songs in the road. This year has already seen her tour with New Orleans piano master Jon Cleary and seen her support 5 time Grammy Award Winners The Blind Boys of Alabama. On the home front she has supported Australian jazz icon James Morrison, and fronted for John Morrison’s Swing City Big Band. Already, Donné is fast becoming known for her ability to not only deliver songs but to embody them, with a talent that is as apparent on record as it is on stage.

Here you have that old-school sound with a gritty edge – cinematic pieces that traverse the full spectrum of emotional possibility. This singer is outrageous, tender, volatile, vulnerable and truly in her power.
