Legendary Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton has exploded back onto our radar with a brand new solo album, music video and tour announcement!
The iconic Aussie songwriter and string-slinger’s third solo LP is dubbed TIDES and will officially wash up on our shores on Friday, 21st September.
The freshest track to arrive off the forthcomer is dubbed ‘Some People’, which features guestie vox from Kelly Lane of Skipping Girl Vinegar.
Middleton explains that the tune explores the idea of “trying to find yourself in today’s world of immersion and over sharing”.
“It talks about how precarious it can be to open yourself up, for people to dissect, so you keep a little of yourself for safekeeping,” he says.
‘Some People’ also comes packing a music video created by Melbourne-based director Nathan Dalton, which you can check out below.
Fans will also have the chance to hear Middleton’s TIDES fleshed out live for the first time this October, when he heads out on an Aussie East Coast tour with an all-star backing band.
He’ll be joined on the road by Vika & Linda Bull and Kelly Lane on backing vocals, plus Graeme Pogson (The Bamboos), Luke Hodgson (Meg Mac), Xani Kolac and Louis Macklin (JET) handling the rhythm section, with support from Ashley Naylor.
And while he’ll definitely be performing tracks off his new album, Middleton has also promised to chuck a couple of crowd favourites from his extensive back catalogue into the set *cough* Powderfinger *cough*
