PREMIERE: Axe Girl Unveil ‘Silence’ Music Video

Perth outfit Axe Girl have unveiled the second single to be taken from their upcoming debut album due out later this year. Dubbed Silence, the single is a more brooding affair than their previous outing, Give Me Your Tee Shirt, though it still maintains that infectious, bouncy Axe Girl sound.

Axe Girl formed in Perth back in 2012, after lead singer and guitarist Addison Axe, who was visiting from the UK, met bass player Vanessa Thornton at Clancy’s Fish Pub in Fremantle. Following some promising jam sessions, the pair recruited drummer Brett Mitchell and Axe never went home.

“Silence is about the cyclic nature of a doomed relationship… When you can’t survive without your soulmate, but you can’t live with each other either. It’s not a break-up song, but it’s kinda sad and a pretty bleak all the same,” Addison said of the band’s new single (check out the video below).

The band will independently release their debut record, which they funded with a $10,000 sum raised through the generosity of their loyal friends and fan base via a Pozible campaign, later this year. The album was recorded with local legend Dave Parkin at Blackbird Sound Studio in Perth.
