Queen’s Brian May Says The Band Hasn’t Made Any Money From ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Biopic

Bohemian Rhapsody may be the biggest musical biopic of all time, but that doesn’t mean the stars it is based off are making any money from it. At least, that’s what Queen‘s Brian May is saying.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC 2 earlier this week (via Express), May responded to reports that him and the other members of the legendary band were “getting rich” from the film…as if they weren’t already loaded.

“There’s a thing in the paper saying we were getting rich off this movie,” he said.

“If they only knew! We had an accountant the other day and we still haven’t earned a penny from it – isn’t that funny?

“How successful does a movie have to be before you make any money! There’s so many people of course who will take pieces off the top.”

The fact that May says the band hasn’t earned a cent from the film is surprising, given just how much money it made. According to BBC, last month the film had officially earned over $900 million worldwide.

They might not be making anything from the movie, but they’re no doubt gonna earn quite a lot from their highly anticipated Australian tour taking place next year.
