Red Hot Chili Peppers Issue Statement On Anthony Kiedis’ Hospitalisation

Red Hot Chili Peppers have given an update on the health of their frontman, who was rushed to hospital just moments before the band were due to hit the stage at a Californian festival over the weekend.

Word from the Chilis’ camp is that Anthony Kiedis is suffering from an intestinal flu (which does NOT sound pleasant) but is “expected to make a full recovery soon”.

Bad news is, the band have been forced to postpone an upcoming concert to give him time to get well.

Their official statement, via the website, reads:

“Due to Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalization from complications from the intestinal flu on  Saturday evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers regretfully must postpone their upcoming concert for iHeart Radio on May 17th.  They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes.  Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon.”

It follows initial media reports that Kiedis was hospitalised after suffering “extreme stomach pain”.

According to trusty Web MD, the full list of stomach flu or gastroenteritis symptoms include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, fever, headache, and sore muscles.

I.e. we’ve all been there.

And none of us ever wanna feel like we did that day.

Let’s hope Anthony gets well soon. The Chilis have a rigorous year of touring ahead following the release of  their 11th studio album The Getaway on 17th June.
