Rolf Harris Sexually Assaulted Girl At Music Festival, Court Told

A woman has told a London court that Australian entertainer and convicted pedophile Rolf Harris sexually assaulted her at a music festival when she was 14 years old.

As the ABC reports, the woman told the court that the incident occurred after she asked Harris for an autograph at the event.

In a recording from an abuse hotline which was played to the court on day two of 86-year-old Harris’ current trial, the woman says, “He singled me out, put his hand up my skirt and at one point he dragged me onto his knee.”

A childhood friend of the woman also told the court that she saw Harris drag the 14-year-old onto his knee.

“I just have that snapshot in my memory because I knew it wasn’t right and I was glad it wasn’t me,” she said. “You don’t want to sit on someone’s knee who you’ve never met. He was a gentleman, and we were young girls. That’s why it stuck in my mind.”

The alleged victim, who gave evidence via video-link, denied claims that she only went to police with her allegations after learning that Harris had to pay compensation to previous victims.

“I didn’t read about it, and it’s not the reason I’ve come forward,” she said, while one of her former bosses said the woman had previously spoken about the alleged incident during a conversation at their wokrplace.

Another former friend of the woman said she saw the alleged victim crying in front of her parents on the day of the alleged assault, and said the girl’s father looked “angry and red-faced” before approaching Harris and giving him a “mouthful”.

Harris is currently facing seven charges of indecent assault and one charge of sexual assault, which have been put forward by seven women. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 1971 and 2004, when the victims were aged between 12 and 42.

Harris is pleading not guilty to all charges.
