Royal Blood Built A Recording Studio In The Back Of Their Tour Van

British duo Royal Blood are one of the hardest working bands in the biz, so much so that they are recording while travelling in their tour van.

Speaking to NME frontman Mike Kerr revealed their DIY approach to recording on the road. “I built a studio in the back of our bus,” he said.

“It’s very hard to write when everything keeps falling over because the driver’s taken a massive corner. It was our writing den – we’d have Clint Eastwood movies playing with the volume down.”

As for what the album is sounding like, if you enjoyed their debut, chances are you’ll also love the follow-up. Kerr said that they’ll be working with the same budget and using similar instruments as they “don’t need to reinvent the wheel.”

They debuted a new song Hook, Line And Sinker at Reading Festival in the UK just over a month ago and even via a phone recording it sounds pretty slamming.

Unfortunately there’s no time frame yet for the album release. They’ll drop it “when it sounds amazing,” which sounds like a good plan to us.

The band are currently touring in America. They were last in Australia for a huge set at Splendour In The Grass which probably got more than just a few people aching for a second album.
