Sir Elton Coming Down Under In 2011

Sir Elton John has confirmed that he is heading to Australia for dates later this year. His 15th Australian tour will see him play in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and a special winery show in the Hunter Valley. There has as yet been no date in Sydney announced.

As the Daily Telegraph points out, this trip down under will be the first where he has to worry about what do to with four-month-old son Zachary, who he is bringing up with partner David Furnish.

In a statement, promoters Chugg Entertainment said of their coup, “To draw comparisons with Sir Elton John is impossible… Artist, altruistic philanthropist, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and BRIT winner; his many accolades have made him an inimitable force in a career spanning five decades, with his versatility and effortless talent showing no sign of slowing down.”

The 64-year-old has not toured in Australia since 2007, though he has a fertile history on these shores, including his Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra album from 1986. He also hosted the first ever ARIA Awards in Sydney in 1987, and with the 2011 awards taking place around the time of Elton’s new tour, there is speculation he may put in an appearance once more given the ARIAs will be celebrating their 25th year.

Sir Elton John’s Australian tour is:

Wednesday November 30, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane, QLD
Saturday December 3, Hope Estate, Hunter Valley, NSW
Tuesday December 6, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, VIC
Friday December 9, Coopers Brewery Amphitheatre, Adelaide, SA
Sunday December 11, Burswood Dome, Perth, WA
