Slipknot Guitarist Jim Root Undergoes Serious Back Surgery

Slipknot are having a rough season in terms of team injuries. The latest comes from guitarist Jim Root, who has revealed he copped a serious back injury after a recent performance, which required immediate surgery to correct.

Taking to social media, Root explains that at some stage during their headline performance at Louder Than Life festival this week, he fell victim to “fractured vertebrae”, adding that “haemorrhaged disks are an occupational hazard for metal bands”, so he’s clearly taking it all in good humour.

Root pulled off the disk replacement surgery in record timing, and is already on the mend. He says, “Other than being a bit sore and spun out from jet lag and Norco’s it’s all good.”

The repercussions are a bit unclear at the moment. Root explains he won’t be “as mobile” on stage as before, but it’s unclear for how long, and there’s no rest for the wicked.

Root and company will honour all previously announced tour dates, including their upcoming adventure down under.
