Slipknot Unveil Haunting ‘The Negative One’ Music Video

Slipknot have unveiled their video for The Negative One, the band’s first new song in six years. The clip was directed by Slipknot percussionist M Shawn Crahan, known to fans as Clown, and features the nightmarish characters first introduced in the teaser clips that lead up to the new single.

The track is the first complete taste of the band’s as-yet-untitled fifth album, which is reportedly slated for release this spring. The album will be the band’s first full-length original recording in six years, and the first without late bassist Paul Gray and departed drummer Joey Jordison.

Jim [Root, guitarist] and Clown really stepped up,” frontman Corey Taylor recently explained to Blabbermouth. “You know, they kind of started leading the charge and really getting stuff together. So by the time we really got into the studio, we had a really great template of music to check out.”

According to Rolling Stone, fans attending the group’s upcoming Knotfest event this October will receive a digital download of the new album. The band have stated they will play two sets during the festival, with each performance featuring a unique setlist highlighting songs from the new album.
