Smashing Pumpkins Announce Sidewave Supports And Venue Change

Smashing Pumpkins have officially landed in Australia, and have now confirmed that Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance will support the band at their Soundwave 2015 sidewaves in Melbourne and Sydney, as will Japanese rockers and fellow Soundwave act One Ok Rock.

Smashing Pumpkins’ Sydney sidewave has also seen a venue change. The Pumpkins’ Sydney show remains on Wednesday, 25th February, but has moved from the Hordern Pavilion to the Big Top. All tickets to the Sydney show remain valid, and the Melbourne sidewave date and location remains unchanged.

News of Gerard Way’s possible appearance at the Pumpkins’ sidewaves broke earlier this week, when Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah tweeted that the MCR frontman was looking likely to support Smashing Pumpkins’ current tour roster — that’s Billy Corgan, guitarist Jeff Schroeder, Killers bassist Mark Stoermer and Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk.

UPDATE 23/02/15: Soundwave has announced that due to the “extended headline sets” by The Smashing Pumpkins and Gerard Way at tonight’s Melbourne Sidewave there will not be enough time for One OK Rock to perform.

One OK Rock will still be taking the stage at the Sydney Sidewave on Wednesday 25th February along with Gerard Way and Smashing Pumpkins, as originally planned.
