Billy Corgan has announced that he’ll release a solo album this year called Cotillions.
The new record is due out later this month, with Corgan revealing a November 22 release date through his own label Martha’s Music.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman will release the 17-track album under his full name; William Patrick Corgan, as he did his last solo album 2017’s Ogilala.
In a post to Instagram, Corgan said the new record is “from my heart” and bemoaned the age of social media where people judge music and develop opinions about new music before they even hear it properly.
“Don’t miss the chance to hear it for yourself before others tell you what my songs are or aren’t,” he wrote.
“There is a reason I trust you, the people who support me day in and day out, to decide whether or not my efforts are worthy.”
“We live in a different world now, where an artist can speak directly to you without the filter of mass media shaping your heart and opinions before you’ve even had a chance to decide whether this music speaks to you,” he continued.
“And this is absolutely an album from my heart. And so is the new SP, which will be out soon enough.
“I can’t thank you enough for the support I’ve been given to make moments like this possible.”
Smashing Pumpkins last releases came in 2018, care the long-titled 10th studio album Shine and Oh So Bright, Vol 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.
