Festivals can be an exhaustive affair. Running from stage to stage between sets, elbowing through crowds, battling the harsh Australian summer sun. Not to mention that whole being on your feet all day thing and if you’re heading to both days of the upcoming Soundwave 2015 festival, that’s twice the exhaustion. Now though, there may just be a solution.
Yesterday, festival promoter AJ Maddah began throwing around the idea of creating a Soundwave 2015 “Comfort Zone” where weary punters can go and recoup for a while after partaking in some intense festival-ing. Now it seems the idea is going ahead, with one catch though – it’s for over 30s only.
That’s right, punters who haven’t reached their thirties yet will likely need a fake ID to enter this special zone, which, based on ideas from Maddah’s Twitter followers, will include a “massage service, good coffee & cake, good wine” and “lux serviced toilets”.
The idea was initially proposed as an over 35s only area but a little niggling from Twitter followers persuaded the Soundwave promoter to drop the minimum age to 30. Maddah says it’ll be like “reverse daycare but w more amenities”.
In terms of what a little R&R will set you back, Maddah says preliminary budgets suggest about “$15 to $20”, but more details are expected to be announced next week. He’s planning on live tweeting a meeting about the plans next Monday so get your suggestions ready.
In other Soundwave news, Sidewaves from many of the festival’s big acts are expected to be released tomorrow. See all the latest sideshow updates at our special information page.
So @sorryitsonlyme has given me a great idea: A space for fans over 35 at #SW15 to relax & take a rest throughout the day: The Comfort Zone
