The South Australian Music Awards (the SAMs, if you will) return for another year in 2020 to celebrate the excellent work of South Australian artists over the past 12 months.
Submissions are open across a range of award categories from now until Thursday, 20th August, with winners set to be announced on Tuesday, 3rd November. A ceremony will be “conducted in line with current COVID-19 safety restrictions”, according to a presser, and the exact format the celebrations take will be announced at a later date.
This year’s judging panel for Industry and Major awards includes 15 national and local judges, with the likes of triple j’s Declan Byrne, Girls Rock! Adelaide’s Hannah Fairlamb, Penny Drop’s Emily York, ABC Adelaide’s Kate Bailey and Rolling Stone‘s Tyler Jenke among the panel. The People’s Choice Awards will be decided on by the public, with voting opening Monday, 7th September.
“In what’s been a very difficult year for our industry, I’m really looking forward to celebrating all of the excellent music and fantastic achievements that have emerged out of SA in the last year,” comments Kim Roberts, newly-appointed General Manager at Music SA. “It’s such a great opportunity to acknowledge the creativity and innovation that makes our community so exciting.”
