St Paul & The Broken Bones, Trombone Shorty & More Add Bluesfest 2017 Sideshows

Bluesfest 2017 is shaping up as one of the more exciting editions of the festival yet, and the contingent of acts playing additional headline shows has just gotten even bigger.

A heap of acts had already announced sideshows before and after Bluesfest itself, and now five new acts have announced their own tour dates.

Alabama-hailing outfit St Paul & The Broken Bones will bring their ’60s soul fire to shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Lead by Paul Janeway and backed by a five-piece band, they’ve also recently released their second studio album Sea Of Noise.

Taking on their own slew of shows is New Orleans native Trombone Shorty with his band Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Trombone Shorty has spent an extensive amount of his life has a band leader, and will now bring his fusion jazz style for two shows in addition to his Bluesfest 2017 set.

Roy Ayers will also be taking his acid jazz show on the road for a couple of shows in the lead up to his appearance at Bluesfest. An acclaimed jazz vibraphonist, Ayers career took him on a path where he spent years as an R&B band leader and has become one of the most sampled artists in hip hop.

Another artist who has just revealed Bluesfest 2017 sideshows in multi-platinum selling and seven time Grammy nominee Joan Osborne, who’ll bring her R&B/soul sound to Sydney and Melbourne dates in and around the main festival.

Finally, Canadian ban The Strumbellas are set to hit the country in April in what will be their Bluesfest debut, and whilst here the acclaimed act will will bring their rock-noir backed catchy mass-singalong tunes to the a series of exciting sideshows as well.
