Steve Balbi Announces Long-Awaited Debut Solo LP ‘Black Rainbow’

It’s been a long time coming, but good things come to those who wait. The iconic Steve Balbi has announced that his heavily anticipated solo full-length debut Black Rainbow will officially be released Friday, 13th September. The good news doesn’t end there, as Balbi will be unveiling the record to fans in person as he tours in support of Baby Animals.

For more than 3 decades, Balbi has been a seminal figure in the Australian music scene. Many of his fans first jumped on board back in his days with Rose Tattoo, who continue to be held in high esteem. From there, Balbi went on to become a founding member of Noiseworks, becoming one of the most celebrated bands in the country upon the release of their debut LP in 1987.

The momentum didn’t slow until 1993 when Balbi and bandmate Justin Stanley jumped ship to get cracking on a new project Electric Hippies. Since then, Balbi has remained highly active in the scene, partaking in numerous collaborations and live experiences, all of which have led to this moment.

A defining solo effort, Black Rainbow is said to encompass all of Balbi’s history, as well as provide plenty of insight into where Balbi will go next. Black Rainbow puts Balbi in uncharted waters, which is sure to culminate in yet another exciting chapter in his career.
