Stream Gerard Way’s New Solo Album ‘Hesitant Alien’ In Full

Gerard Way has offered up a stream of his debut album Hesitant Alien a couple of days ahead of its release this Friday, 26th September. Hesitant Alien has been highly-anticipated by fans since the break-up of Way’s former band, My Chemical Romance, last year.

On first listen, the album is a healthy blend of light and dark, with Way juxtaposing bopper alt rock numbers against more brooding clashes of sound that spiral down into some frenzied headbangers.

“I looked to the Britpop poets like Jarvis Cocker and Damon Albarn, drawing upon everyday life,” Way previously stated about Hesitant Alien, “I also experimented with the abstract, and looked at Frank Black’s work both with the Pixies, and as a solo artist. There was no concept and no call-to-arms.”

It was only months after My Chemical Romance disbanded that we got our first look at Way’s new solo album, though we didn’t know it at the time, in the form of lyrics posted by Way for a song titled Millions.

A bootleg of Way performing Millions live at Sydney Opera House followed some months later but it wasn’t until June this year we were given the first official single, Action Cat, from Hesitant Alien. The track features Way on vocals, guitar and keys.
