Submissions Are Now Open For Australia’s Eurovision 2020 Representative

Love Eurovision? Reckon you’ve got a shit hot song you want to represent Australia with? Well, good news for you – submissions are now open for songwriters to enter an original composition as part of the selection process. The song portal is open here until 30th September, so you’ve got about a month to make something special.

There are no limits on the number of songs composers and songwriters, published and unpublished, are able to submit. Shortlisted songs will be announced later this year, with ten artists competing for the opportunity to represent Australia. Then, the Australian public and a jury will decide who’ll take the stage in the Netherlands next year.

SBS have announced Eurovision – Australia Decides will return to the Gold Coast next February, with Aussies encouraged to vote for who’ll follow in the footsteps of Kate Miller-Heidke, who represented Australia during this year’s competition.

Australia Decides will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday, 7th and Saturday, 8th February. Hosted by comedian Joel Creasey and music genius Myf Warhurst, the winner be revealed at a live TV final on the Saturday evening.

“I cannot wait to see who Australia will choose to represent us in 2020 and the first step on this journey is submitting a song,” said SBS Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Josh Martin.

“There is such an incredible depth and breadth of musical talent in our country – both established and emerging. SBS has been the home of Eurovision in Australia for more than 35 years and we’re thrilled to be able to provide this exciting new platform for artists to launch original Australian music globally.”

Tickets for the opening night and matinee show (which are not televised) along with the live TV final are on sale now. Eurovision – Australia Decides will air live and exclusive on SBS on Saturday, 8th February.
