Sydney Blues & Roots Festival First Line-Up Announced

Sydney’s blues and roots festival returns this year, with a line-up that boasts some of the best names in the local and international blues scene. The festival, set to take place from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th October 2011, will see a variety of venues in the scenic Hawkesbury region of Sydney’s West house performances from an array of exciting established and up-and-coming acts.

From the press release:

Celebrated home-grown modern soul/blues extraordinaire Ash Grunwald will bring his unique sound to the stage in October. With four ARIA Award nominations for Best Blues & Roots Album under his belt, Ash has well and truly claimed his position as one of the country’s best blues artists.

Canada’s Jeff Martin, the voice of multi award-winning rock band The Tea Party, is set to make his Sydney Blues & Roots Festival debut this year. Fresh from a whirlwind Australian tour and off the back of this latest solo release “The Ground Cries Out”, Jeff is sure to leave audiences begging for more.

Festival Creative Directors Geoff Trio and Steve Griffiths at Code One are thrilled with the 2011 line-up, saying today: We’re so excited about the calibre of artists who are on the roster for this year’s event. It’s going to be the best yet!

Music lovers will be treated to a dynamic range of live performances from some of the world’s leading musicians, including local acoustic singer/songwriters Ashleigh Mannix and Paul Greene. Steve Edmonds, one of the Australia’s coolest blues/rock talents, will appear alongside seasoned blues/rock trio Chase The Sun, who are no strangers to the annual event. Comprising Brian Ritchie (Violent Femmes) and Martin Rotsey, Rob Hirst and Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), The Break are gearing up to unleash their surf-rock sound on new audiences. Country rock legends The Flood also grace the festival bill in addition to Chain, Bondi Cigars, The Brewster Brothers, Ray Beadie Band and many other talented acts.

The Sydney Blues & Roots Festival promises to deliver a series of must-see performances from world-class musicians. Be sure to catch the festival when it hits Windsor from 28th – 30th October!
