The first-ever Australian edition of snowboarder Shaun White’s Air + Style music and snow sports festival has been cancelled just weeks out from its scheduled Sydney debut, after its local promoter went into liquidation.
The festival was set to host performances from the likes of Snow Patrol and Flo Rida in August, but organisers have today revealed the event has been postponed indefinitely.
In a statement to Music Feeds, Air + Style organisers say, “It is with great disappointment that we share the news that Air + Style Australia has been cancelled by the local promoter due to circumstances beyond our control.
“As a brand, we pride ourselves on always creating the most top-tier, dynamic sports and music event, and we were looking forward to bringing that experience to Australia for the first time.
“We had partnered with a company that we believed shared our vision and values, but ultimately they did not. Unfortunately, this left us in difficult situation, which resulted in a forced cancellation of the weekend.
“To all ticket buyers, athletes, and musicians – thank you for your enthusiasm and continued support. Tickets will be fully refunded through Moshtix and we plan on returning in the future with a stellar event.”
The festival’s Australian promoter, Moore Sports International, went into liquidation last week.
In a statement of its own, ticketing agent Moshtix says, “For those who have purchased tickets, the purchase price will automatically be refunded back to your credit card/PayPal account. The process usually takes around 3 – 5 business days for the funds to return to your account.”
Air + Style’s Australian debut was scheduled to take place over three days in Sydney’s Domain, complete with Big Air, snowboarding and skiing competitions off a 16-storey ski ramp.
Snow Patrol are still scheduled to perform headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne during their upcoming trip to Australia, while Flo Rida will be performing in Melbourne and Brisbane.
