Sydney Opera House Announces 2017 Homeground Festival Lineup

The Sydney Opera House‘s annual (and free) Homeground Festival has unveiled its music lineup for 2017, topped by reformed ARIA Hall Of Famers Yothu Yindi.

As the venue’s annual celebration of First Nations art and culture, Homeground will move to a larger space on the Opera House Forecourt this November, and will see Yothu Yindi mark the 25th anniversary of their hit song ‘Treaty’ (Filthy Lucre Remix).

Founding band members Witiyana Marika, Stuart Kellaway and Kevin Marlangay will be joined by the likes of Yirrmal (grandson of the late Dr G Yunupingu) and Yirrnga (Yunupingu clan member), to perform classic songs and even some new material.

This year’s Homeground lineup also features Thursday Island hip hop act Mau Power, folk singer Irish Mythen, Tibetan singer-songwriter Tenzin Choegyal, The Medics’ frontman Kahl Wallis, Electric Fields and more. Catch the full music lineup, below.

Homeground will take place on 25th and 26th November, and will also feature a bunch of dance troupes, projection art, a Black Arts Market, tours, a film festival and the annual Dance Rites.
