In the lead-up to the debut of their branded East Coast mini festival FANGZstock, Sydney punk hellraisers FANGZ have proceeded to launch their own talk show, hosted by frontman Josh Cottreau.
“The Night Show with Cottreau isn’t just a talk show—it’s the blueprint for what late-night should be,” FANGZ’s head wailer explains. “Think David Letterman, but smarter. Jerry Springer, but classier. It’s not just better; it’s necessary. Late-night needs saving, and I’m the guy to do it.”

Naturally, he’s taking the full piss.
The three-minute pilot episode of The Night Show, which you can suss up above, is a slickly-produced and devilish take on how the media often gives the wrong people a platform. Whether it’s reality stars, criminals, or athletes, they’re handed the mic to share completely uninformed opinions or sell products, while the media amplifies their BS.
Essentially, it’s a hilarious look at how easily narratives can be controlled and manipulated.
Meanwhile, in some bummer news for FANGZ fans in Queensland, the Brisbane leg of the band’s FANGZstock event has had to be postponed due to a bizarre incident in which the tobacconist neighbouring the venue (Tomcat) went up in flames, causing damage to the venue and forcing its temporary closure for repairs.
“When life gives you arson, you postpone Brisbane,” the band posted on social media, assuring fans that the event would be rescheduled once Tomcat is back up and running.
The Sydney and Melbourne events, each with its own curated lineup, will still be going ahead as planned later this month.
