Tame Impala And Flaming Lips Cover Each Other To Promote Joint US Tour

Best buddies The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala have collaborated on a special vinyl EP, being sold on the bands’ joint US tour dates. The release contains covers that the two bands have recorded of each other’s material.

The four track EP features The Flaming Lips’ cover of Tame Impala’s mega single Elephant from their sophomore album, Lonerism, and the psychedelic Runway, Houses, City, Clouds, from their debut, Innerspeaker. Australia’s favourites in turn cover the ‘Flips track Are You a Hypnotist?, from the legendary group’s 2002 LP Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and Silver Trembling Hands from 2009’s Embryonic.

‘Flips frontman Wayne Coyne announced the collaboration via his new Instagram account, stating “…doing a Tame Impala does Flaming Lips songs and Flaming Lips do Tame Impala songs 4 song vinyl!! Only available at the shows !!!” Accompanied was an image of the handwritten lyrics to Runway, Houses, City, Clouds. Check out a clip of The Flaming Lips recording Elephant below.
