Tenacious D Announce Australian Tour, May 2013

Written by Kiel Egging on February 14, 2013

The world’s most ass-kicking, fun-lovin’ comedy rock duo Tenacious D are confirmed to return to Australia for dates in all major capital cities this May.

Last in town at the end of 2011 to warm the stage for Foo Fighters, Jack Black and Kyle Gass are going back to their roots by doing an “old-school acoustic style” tour in theatres around the country, as well as a special date at the Sydney Opera House.

Earlier, it looked like the band were gonna head our way towards the start of this year – like, right about now – after Black told The West Australian in July last year they were hoping to come down in February 2013.

“We’d love to come back Down Under. We opened for the Foo Fighters and that was a lot of fun, but we didn’t play any songs from our new album because it hadn’t been released… Nothing has been confirmed, but we’d like to come down early next year, probably around February.”

Joining them as special guests on the tour is bouncy organ player Barry Morgan, who did a cameo on Gotye’s tour in December last year, and hairy North American solo rocker Sasquatch.

Tickets go on sale Monday, 25th February at 9am. Frontier Touring members can get their hands on tickets a little bit earlier via a presale from midday on Thursday, February 21. All shows are all ages.
