The Amity Affliction Detail New Album, Unveil Single ‘Pittsburgh’

Gympie, Queensland metalcore mainstays The Amity Affliction have announced the details of their forthcoming fourth full-length studio effort, to be titled Let The Ocean Take Me. The album arrives Friday, 6th June and will come on the wind of the band’s latest single and music video, Pittsburgh.

Recorded in collaboration with Winds Of Plague and Upon A Burning Body producer Will Putney at guitarist Troy Brady’s Evergreen Studios in Brisbane, Let The Ocean Take Me is not only one of 2014’s most highly anticipated releases, but the band’s most urgent and cathartic statement yet.

The new record sees the band push their signature post-hardcore-meets-metalcore sound into new realms of richness and diversity, with the band providing a new level of sophistication to marry with Joel Birch‘s increasingly personal and penetrating lyricism, both bearing the same intensity.

“[Let The Ocean Take Me] is about really trying to find a positive in my life again,” frontman Birch says. “Writing these songs was a very cathartic process, but I’m terrified of people listening to them and reading these lyrics because they’ll know exactly what I’m thinking. I’m hiding nothing.”
