The Police’s Andy Summers Announces 2024 Australian Tour

Andy Summers – best known as the guitarist of The Police – has announced he will return to Australia for the first time as a solo artist in almost 25 years. The tour, entitled An Evening with Andy Summers, is based off his recent multimedia solo expedition The Cracked Lens + A Broken String – which, as its title suggests, blends Summers’ photography with his guitar playing. A full run of dates, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.

The show will consist of Summers telling stories from across his 40-year-plus career, as well as playing a mix of his solo compositions and some Police songs. Accompanying him visually will be series of photographs Summers has taken over the years – the guitarist has forged a career of his own in that realm, holding exhibitions of his work around the world.

In addition to Australia, Summers will also perform two shows in New Zealand: One in Wellington at the Opera House on Thursday September 19th, before the Australian tour, and one in Auckland at the Great Hall on Thursday October 3rd after leaving Australia and on his way back to the UK. Tickets to both shows can be accessed via Ticketmaster New Zealand.

Summers was last in Australia circa January 2008 on The Police’s reunion tour – which, controversially, featured Fergie as the opening act. Prior to that, he toured the country in 2001 with the Andy Summers Trio. The Police toured Australia twice in their heyday, once in 1981 and once in 1984. Summers’ former Police bandmate, Sting, toured Australia last year.
