The Porkers Comment On Being Axed From Soundwave 2014 Lineup

UPDATE: The official Soundwave 2014 lineup has finally dropped – all the details here!!!

Though the name was never publicly declared, it has now been confirmed that the seminal Australian ska band AJ Maddah axed from the Soundwave 2014 bill was, in fact, The Porkers. The band has responded to all the drama, and they seem to be just as disappointed as their fans.

In response to a post on the band’s official Facebook page, The Porkers keep things comment on the situation, keeping things short and sweet, though it’s impossible to not register the frustration that must be being felt within their camp. “Disappointed here, miss-communication is a complicated thing..” they write.

The band had been teased as one of the most likely additions to the 2014 bill since Maddah tweeted his interest as long ago as last year. As the story goes, Maddah ran into the frontman of the band, who he calls a “dear friend”, and attempted to look after the band by adding them to the festival. Things turned sour when a third-party “douche” unexpectedly got involved and tried to play hardball, and the band was cut from the bill earlier this week after said douche demanded a contract be drawn up as he was going on leave for five weeks.

The official line up announcement is expected to arrive this Friday, 23rd August. So far we can confirm not one but two of the bands that will feature. Get keen.

UPDATE: The band has once again taken to Facebook posting a status informing the world that the “miscommunication” is, in fact, old news and that “it’s all good now!” Porker Pete Cooper has commented, stating that, “Our relationship is good, and it’s up to AJ to make any official announcements.”

So it’s now very possible that Maddah and The Porkers have hammered things out, and that the band WILL be on the bill though, of course, we won’t know for sure until Friday’s official lineup announcement. Stay tuned.
