The Shins’ James Mercer Acts In Viral Video

It seems that The Shins’ James Mercer has taken a liking to some acting in his spare time, appearing in a Funny Or Die video online. The skit, titled ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ portrays Mercer as a vast array of characters including a Police Officer, a couple (yes both sexes) a cowboy and a young boy.

This isn’t the first Shins appearance in a Funny or Die skit, with one airing last month mocking their recording approach showing the band using hand gel to increase clapping ability and using a toilet plunger on trumpets to achieve a specific sound.

The Shins have been heavily tipped for an appearance at this year’s Splendour In The Grass, appearing on a poster, which seems to be the most plausible of all the extravagant rumours circulating, including Bloc Party and The Black Keys. When asked what The Shins plans were for touring Australia by The Vine Mercer replied “Yes, we will,” continuing “I know there was talk about Splendour in the Grass, but that’s like, pencilled into my calendar. It’s not official. So it would be trying to be something together around there, I suppose.”

The band are also set to release their new album Port Of Morrow in March this year, just in time for a Splendour appearance. Fingers crossed!
