The Smashing Pumpkins Sidewaves Announced

Good news for Smashing Pumpkins fans, the late-round addition to the Soundwave 2015 lineup will be playing two Sidewaves this year, as a special treat for Melbourne and Sydney audiences.

On top of their headlining Soundwave 2015 sets, Billy Corgan and co will head up Festival Hall in Melbourne on Monday 23rd February and Sydney’s Hordern Pavillion on Wednesday, 25th February.

Smashing Pumpkins is currently officially comprised of Corgan and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, with Killers bassist Mark Stoermer and Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk completing the touring lineup.

As well as tracks from their very extensive back catalogue, the Pumpkins will showcase their critically acclaimed new album Monuments To An Elegy, which our very own review described as a “welcome and wholly unexpected return to the band’s pop-infused alt-rock origins”.

Recently, Corgan said that Pumpkins had got many an offer from festivals since Monuments‘ release but had turned most down. Soundwave punters should count themselves lucky then, especially since AJ Maddah revealed the band have “a crazy light/lazer/hologram/video set up” planned.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday 21st January at 9am local time. See tour dates and ticketing information below. For more Sidewaves info, check our Sidewaves details page and follow our Sidewaves Feed.

UPDATE 19/02/15: Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they will be supported by Gerard Way and One Ok Rock at their Melbourne and Sydney sidewaves. The band’s Sydney headline show has also seen a venue change — the concert remains on Wednesday, 25th February, but has moved from the Hordern Pavilion to the Big Top at Luna Park. All tickets to the show will remain valid. View updated sidewave details, below.
