The Teskey Brothers are scheduled to play shows in Brisbane and Melbourne over the next couple of weekends. To whet fans’ appetites in the lead-up, the group from Warrandyte have shared a cover of Archie Roach’s ‘Get Back To The Land’, featuring guest vocals from Emma Donovan.
“This song is very special to all our hearts,” said vocalist Josh Teskey. “Archie Roach – what a legend! He really hit a nerve with this one. Something we’ve all felt from time-to-time while travelling, that yearning to get back to the land we know.”
Lead vocal duties are split evenly between Teskey and Donovan. “It was such an honour and privilege to share lead vocals with Emma Donovan. She is absolutely incredible on this track!” said Teskey.
‘Get Back to the Land’ originally appeared on Roach’s 2016 album, Let Love Rule. Roach and Donovan have collaborated on multiple occasions in the past. Roach spoke fondly of Donovan and the Teskey Brothers’ reimagining of ‘Get Back to the Land’.
“Listening to the Teskey Brothers’ version of ‘Get Back To The Land’ gives me goosebumps. It’s good to see the Deadly Emma Donovan singing with Josh; their voices mesh. This version is just dripping with soul. To hear one of your own songs that has been taken to another level is really touching. I feel so humbled.”
The Teskey Brothers are performing at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl with Orchestra Victoria on Saturday, 22nd January with support from Emma Donovan and the Putbacks. The Teskeys are also playing this Friday, 14th January at Brisbane’s Riverstage with support from Dana Gehrman.
The band’s scheduled show at Sydney’s Aware Super Theatre with Orchestra Victoria has been pushed back to Friday, 18th November.
