This Is How Every Time I Die Deal With Selfie-Mad Stage-Invaders

Australian fans heading along to shows on Every Time I Die‘s upcoming 2015 tour, take heed. If you’re going to run up on stage and attempt to take a selfie with the band, you do so at your own peril, and it may just result in guitarist Jordan Buckley karate kicking the phone right out of your hands.

At least, that’s what happened to a fan at a recent US show in Kansas. As seen in the footage below, via Lambgoat, the fan rushes the stage and is in the process of taking a selfie with frontman Keith Buckley before Jordan Buckley runs to his brother’s defence and ceremoniously high-kicks the phone out of the fan’s hand.

In case not everyone fully comprehended his attitude towards the onstage selfie, Jordan took to Twitter later to express his thoughts. “Stage selfies = look at me look at me I didn’t get enough attention as a kid and can’t handle 5 people here getting more attention than me,” he wrote.

The video of the incident was uploaded by another punter onto Facebook and has gained some attention, prompting Jordan to follow up with another tweet stating, “If kicking an iPhone got me talked about on morning radio I’m thinkin puking on that dude last night SHOULD land me a guest spot on The View.”

For the record, the owner of the phone has since commented on the Facebook video clarifying that not only did he get his phone back, he actually got the original selfie and later nabbed another one with Jordan himself.

The New York outfit, who played their own headlining Australian shows in October this year, will be making their way back to our shores in the new year for a quick five-date tour, playing shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. If you’re planning to catch them live and are selfie prone, best leave those iPhones at home.
