This Weekend’s Stacked ‘The Sound’ Lineup Includes Tones And I, Bliss N Eso, Electric Fields And More

ABC’s live music program The Sound returns this weekend with another stacked lineup of Australian artists who’ll perform on the program.

Hosted as usual by Jane Gazzo and Zan Rowe (along with special guests Keith Urban, Jack Thompson and Molly Meldrum), Tones and I leads the bill with a performance of her The Kids Are Coming cut ‘Never Seen the Rain’.

Also on the lineup is Guy Sebastian performing from Sydney’s historic Town Hall, Bliss n Eso debuting their first new single since 2017, Vika and Linda, and beloved electronic duo Electric Fields.

The latter will be bringing their cover of Kev Carmody‘s ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’, which appears on the forthcoming expanded reissue of Carmody tribute album Cannot Buy My Soul. They’re joined on the performance by Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and John Butler.

This weekend’s episode also sees Josh Teskey and Ash Grunwald launch their new collaborative project, a performance from rising pop artist CXLOE, and a tribute to Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs by Jimmy Barnes, The Living End‘s Chris Cheney and more. All in all, there are far worse ways to spend your Sunday arvo.

Since kicking off last month, The Sound has featured stunning performances from the likes of Amy Shark, Angie McMahon, DMA’S, Paul Kelly and more. Filmed and created by Mushroom Vision, the weekly series showcases some of the country’s most exciting artists through exclusive, pre-recorded live performances along with collaborations and interviews. Last weekend saw a particularly stunning performance from Miiesha, who performed her single ‘Twisting Words’ from Queensland’s Capricorn Caves.

Catch Episode Six of The Sound this Sunday, 23rd August at 5.30pm on ABC or iview. There’s also an encore performance the following Saturday, 29th August at 12.30pm.
