Watch Miiesha Perform From Queensland’s Capricorn Caves

Over the weekend, Miiesha appeared on ABC’s live music program The Sound, performing from Capricorn Caves in Rockhampton.

The songwriter gave a live rendition of ‘Twisting Words’, a standout from her debut album Nyaaringu earlier this year. Beginning the performance with Nyaaringu opener ‘Caged Bird’, she was joined for the performance by Busby Marou‘s Jeremy Marou on guitar, with the pair performing from the stunning natural limestone caves.

Miiesha, who hails from the small Aboriginal community of Woorabinda in Central Queensland, released Nyaaringu back in June. Last month, Music Feeds included the record on its list of this year’s best albums so far.

“It’s rare that an artist’s debut feels as polished and high quality, yet as vulnerable and honest as Miiesha’s collection of songs, Nyaaringu, does,” wrote our own Jackson Langford. “There are tens of thousands of years of history packed into just under 30 minutes, as Miiesha shares her story and leaves you breathless with every word. This is an Australian album to remember.”

Since kicking off last monthThe Sound has featured stunning performances from the likes of Amy Shark, Angie McMahon, DMA’S, Paul Kelly and more. Filmed and created by Mushroom Vision, the weekly series showcases some of the country’s most exciting artists through exclusive, pre-recorded live performances along with collaborations and interviews.
