TISM have officially announced their seventh studio album, Death To Art, in addition to a three date east-coast tour of Australia across October and November 2024. Both the album and the tour mark TISM’s first in 20 years, as well as the full-scale follow-ups to their 2022 reunion, appearance at that year’s Good Things Festival and the subsequent 2023 EP The “C” Word – which was preceded by the Rowville satirists’ comeback single, ‘I’ve Gone Hillsong’.
‘Hillsong’ and two songs from The “C” Word EP – the title track and ‘Cunts vs Cunts’ – will be featured on Death To Art. To coincide with the album’s announcement, the band have shared the album’s title track. Its accompanying music video sees various people damaging representations of art – including paintings, sheet music and TISM vinyl – by doing destructive things such as tearing them up, smashing them on the ground and lighting them on fire.
TISM – ‘Death To Art’
For the upcoming Death To Art tour, TISM have enlisted four acts to join them for all three dates: Machine Gun Fellatio, Eskimo Joe, Ben Lee and The Mavis’s. The shows will notably mark MGF’s first shows since their 2005 split, as well as The Mavis’s first shows together in six years.
Both TISM and Machine Gun Fellatio put out their then-final albums in 2004: The White Albun and On Ice, respectively. Since their splits, the frontmen of each – Damian Cowell (AKA Humphrey B. Flaubert) and Matt Ford (AKA Pinky Beecroft) – parlayed into new projects. Cowell fronted acts such as Root!, The DC3 and Damien Cowell’s Disco Machine, while Ford lead Pinky Beecroft & The White Russians. All of these projects, with the exception of Disco Machine, have since folded.
Eskimo Joe and Ben Lee have both undertaken national tours this year – of which, Lee’s remains ongoing. The former released a new single entitled ‘The First Time’ back in March, while the latter will release a new album entitled This One’s For The Old Headz next month on September 20th.
