Triple J’s One Night Stand Returns In 2016

UPDATE 10/03/16, 4.39PM: The location for the 2016 One Night Stand has been revealed.

Good news for music fans as triple j‘s One Night Stand returns in 2016 after taking a break over 2015. Making the annoucnement as part of Aus Music Month, the national youth broadcaster is stoked to announce the event series’ return with expression of interest applications now open.

Bringing great live music to the youth of this fair country for the past 11 years (excluding the last one), One Night Stand delivers free all-ages events to the forgotten regional areas of Australia that often miss out on tours and festivals.

With an impressive list of previous performers including Flume, Hilltop Hoods, Silverchair, The Jezabels, The Rubens, Megan Washington, Art Vs. Science and more, the return of the Aussie institution is great news for young music lovers across the country.

With the tour previolusly visiting such thriving regional centres as Dubbo and Cowra (in NSW); Dalby, Ayr (QLD); Tumby Bay, Port Pirie (SA); Alice Springs (NT), Collie (WA); Mildura, Gippsland, and the inaugural ONS in Natimuk (VIC), the next town to make One Night Stand history is up to you, with expression of interest applications open to anyone who wants this crazy party to come barreling through their town.

There are a few things worth considering though if you are thinking of applying though. First, triple j are looking to “spread the love around”, so if your town has hosted One Night Stand before, it’s unlikely to be selected, especially if it has hosted the event in recent years.

So if you’re from WA or TAS, two states that have been very unrepresented in One Night Stand history (Tassie is still waiting to have it’s ONS cherry popped), you are in with a good chance, while those in regional NSW might be best to leave it alone. Still as the j’s say themselves “we’re keen to hear from all over Australia for future years and opportunities.”

A great opportunity to showcase your town’s many charms, while also enjoying some top grade local talent, applications are sure to start flooding in, so get in quick.
