Upcoming Bee Gees Biopic Will Be Directed By Kenneth Branagh

In case you missed it, there’s a Bee Gees biopic currently in the works. When the news was first announced at the end of 2019, Deadline reported that Graham King, executive producer of Bohemian Rhapsody, was on board to develop the film with Paramount Pictures.

Yesterday, Variety reported that the biopic now has a director – Sir Kenneth Branagh. Branagh’s recent credits include Artemis Fowl and Thor with Chris Hemsworth.

The movie will focus on the life and times of one of the world’s best selling groups who to date, have sold over 220 million records. It will follow brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb into their journey to pop superstardom, highlighting moments including their first number one hit (‘How Can You Mend A Broken Heart’), their iconic 1977 Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and more.

Paramount has bought the life rights to the Gibb’s family estate in order for the group’s classic catalog to be allowed to be used in the film.

It will be the first project taken on by Paramount’s newly launched Sister Studios for their first US project.
