Vampire Weekend’s Fourth Album Rumoured To Be Dropping In Mid-2017

It seems as if we’re not far off a new Vampire Weeknd album if industry sources are to be believed.

Hits Daily Double is reporting that the New York band have inked a new deal with Columbia Records in preparation for the new album.

Insiders say that the album will arrive in the second quarter of 2017 with a tour to follow soon after.

It will be their first album since 2013’s Modern Vampires Of The City and the first since the exit of guitarist Rostam Batmanglij. Batmanglij quit earlier in the year but he may still appear on the record.

“For now in the Vampire Weekend universe, it’s all about recording the next album,” frontman Ezra Keonig said in his last update about the album earlier this year.

“There will be a lot of familiar faces in the studio but also some fresh, new ones. Working title is ‘Mitsubishi Macchiato’…for obvious reasons.”

Vampire Weekend’s current label is XL Records, the label behind Adele, The xx, Kaytranada and more. If they do join Columbia Records, they’ll be joining a roster that includes Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Zayn Malik.
