Victorian Government’s Play On Initiative To Hit Regional Victoria This Month

The Victorian Government have announced that their Play On initiative will be extended out to regional Victoria at the end of this month, with an entire weekend of COVID-Safe, outdoor live music locked in for fully-vaccinated patrons at select venues.

Last week, they announced the inaugural event as part of their bid to get live music up and running again, with a massive concert slated to take place in Melbourne on Saturday, 30th October with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Baker Boy, Amyl & The Sniffers and more taking part.

The regional events will take place over Saturday, 30th October and Sunday, 31st October, with venues in Ballarat, Warrnambool, Archies Creek, Avenel, Geelong, Halls Gap, Castlemaine and Bendigo hosting a variety of acts based in regional townships across Victoria.

There are over 20 artists locked in for these events, including Garth Liddiard, Skyscraper Stan, Allara, Dan Kelly, The Maes, and more.

“These outdoor gigs will showcase many of regional Victoria’s best musicians and beloved venues – and will be a vital step in bringing live music back to our state and getting the industry back on its feet,” said Minister for Creative Industries, Danny Pearson.

“We’re making sure we have the best technology in place to get our great local events up and going again and make them run as smoothly as possible.’’

The initiative aims to also give local businesses a welcome boost after what has been a particularly tough few years.

Each event will be delivered in line with the venue’s COVID-Safety plan that has been approved by the Chief Health Officer, as well as Victoria’s Roadmap to Deliver the National Plan.

Attendees will be required to have their proof of vaccination on them at all times. They will also be required to wear a mask at all times when attending these events.

Tickets to each event are available via each venue’s website. Check out more ticketing information via the Play On website.
