Violent Soho Get A Shout Out From Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus

We’ve all dreamed of meeting our musical idols, but what if one of your heroes actually publicly declared they dug your band? That’s the reality Brisbane rockers Violent Soho now live in after receiving a big thumbs-up from none other than Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus.

The Blink bassist and co-vocalist took to Twitter early this morning (AEST) to give Violent Soho some major props. “Hi @violentsoho I like your band. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah ooooooooo.”

The Mansfield mans were clearly blown away at Hoppus’ enthusiastic reaction to their music, the quartet responding with Blink lyrics of their own. “@markhoppus holy shit dude! Thanks! Your band is the reason we’re a band. Shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits fart turd n twat.”

Even Violent Soho’s label, I OH YOU, got in on the action, reposting Hoppus’ tweet on Facebook along with their feels. “SO I GUESS THIS IS GROWING UP!!! Holy fucking shit, this is amazing!!!!”

Violent Soho are currently nominated for four different categories in the ninth annual Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards, including Best Independent Album for last year’s Hungry Ghost. Whatever the outcome, the Aussie act are already winners in Hoppus’ eyes. Here’s hoping for a Violent Soho/Blink-182 partnership in the near future.

UPDATE 18/09/14: Violent Soho love seems to be spreading abroad and at home. Having felt the warm fuzzies from Mark Hoppus, the Brisbane outfit have now received props from Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, who took to Twitter to declare his appreciation, writing, “I really like Violent Soho.”

The Covered In Chrome hit-makers also got a local shout-out from The Stiffys, who echoed the sentiments of both Hoppus and Madden. “What a great day for you guys,” they added, before writing that they’ll see the group at the upcoming Festival Of The Sun.
