American indie-rock quartet Warpaint have unveiled a teaser trailer for their upcoming, Chris Cunningham-directed documentary Love Is To Die, featuring a 30-second snippet of the song of the same name. The band recently debuted the song live.
The song had its mainstream debut in an ad for fashion label Calvin Klein last week and the band have been playing it out live at recent gigs. The teaser for Love Is To Die was accompanied by a note indicating the footage is part of a larger collaboration with the legendary Cunningham.
“Visionary director Chris Cunningham spent 2 years with Warpaint,” it reads, “filming and photographing as they made new music. In addition to capturing imagery he also reimagined the songs themselves, creating beautiful and exciting alternate versions to soundtrack the visuals.”
According to the note, the result of this collaboration has been a unique band documentary that, according to the band, “is something that only could have come from this unique meld of talents. The above teaser gives a little glimpse of what’s in store.”
Chris Cunningham, is most famous for his avant-garde music video collaborations with Aphex Twin, Bjork, and Madonna. Warpaint are yet to set a release date for the follow-up to their 2010 debut LP, The Fool.
