Watch: Blur Release 2 New Songs ‘Under The Westway’ and ‘The Puritan’

At approximately 4am this morning (Australian EST) Blur played two new tracks titled Under the Westway and The Puritan on a rooftop in London. The performance was broadcast live via the Blur’s official Twitter account while The Guardian helped conduct an online Q&A with fans.

As previously reported by Music Feeds, Under the Westway was first debuted during a gig at the War Child Benefit Concert at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire back in February. The two new singles showcase Blur’s diversity with Billboard noting that Under the Westway is a catchy Beatle-esque anthem while its counterpart, The Puritan, is a synth-heavy brash tune with plenty of grit.

Frontman Damon Albarn has perviously stated that both songs were written specifically for their headlining appearance at Hyde Park on August 12. The performance will celebrate the closing of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

“I wrote these songs for Hyde Park and I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people”, Albarn said.

Both singles have been released on iTunes but are seemingly unavailable via the Australian store at the moment. In the meantime you can enjoy the official lyric videos that were uploaded after Blur’s live stream performance.
