Watch Electric Fields, Missy Higgins And More Perform ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’

Electronic duo Electric Fields have shared a truly breathtaking cover of ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’ as part of the final episode of ABC’s live music show The Sound over the weekend.

Recorded from The Conservatory at Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the group is joined remotely by Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and John Butler for the performance.

The voice of Aboriginal rights activist Vincent Lingiari is also used as part of the performance. Based on the story of Lingiari, the Wave Hill walk-off and the Gurindji people’s fight for land rights in the Northern Territory, the song was co-written by Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody. It was originally recorded in 1991 for Kelly’s album Comedy, with Carmody later including a version (featuring Kelly) on his 1993 album Bloodlines.

“Thank you to the Lingiari family and the Gurindji people for their support and approval to use Vincent Lingiari’s voice in this track,” commented Electric Fields. The duo contributed a cover of the song for the recently-released, expanded reissue of Carmody tribute album Cannot Buy My Soul.

Originally released in 2007 with the updated edition arriving late last week, Cannot Buy My Soul features a wide array of artists covering the legendary songwriter’s music. The new expanded edition includes contributions from the likes of Courtney Barnett and Alice Skye.
