Watch Gang Of Youths Debut ‘Angel In Realtime.’ Songs At Their Intimate Album Launch Show

Last Friday, the same day they released their new album Angel in Realtime., Gang of Youths performed an intimate show at the Fighting Cocks, a 150-capacity venue in Kingston in their adopted home of the UK.

As Stereogum points out, the cosy gig saw them perform several tracks from the new album, including ‘Brothers’, ‘Forbearance’ and ‘In the Wake of Your Leave’ – marking the first time the band had played the latter two songs live. See fan-shot footage of the band playing those songs, along with ‘The Heart Is a Muscle’ and ‘What Can I Do If the Fire Goes Out?’ from 2017’s Go Farther in Lightness, below.

If this is all triggering pangs of jealousy, never fear. The band will return home to Australia in late July for their first Australian headline tour in over three years, playing concerts in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

As part of the tour, they’ll also be reviving their A More Perfect Union festival in Hobart and Sandstone Point. The Hobart event will see them joined by the likes of UK singer-songwriter Arlo Parks, Cub Sport and Gretta Ray, while the Queensland edition features Matt Corby, Middle Kids, Budjerah and more on the bill.

“From start to finish, Gang of Youths’ new album Angel in Realtime. transports back to a time when albums were, more often, an inextricably connected body of work,” we said of the band’s new album in our review. “They are a band that pulls together so many musical elements effortlessly and always manage to tie it all together with lyrics that are meaningful, lyrics that pull you in.”
