Maitland youngster Just A Gent‘s new EP Stories To Tell is out today, and to celebrate its release he’s dropped into the triple j studios to perform an original and a cover for Like A Version.
Just A Gent, in his typical suit and tie, was joined in the triple j studio by a throng of special guests including fellow up-and-comers Thandi Phoenix and L-Fresh The Lion, to perform Kid Cudi’s classic 2009 cut Day ‘N’ Nite. They gave it a massive instrumental-meets-production makeover, with the inclusion of some gorgeous strings and brooding backing vocals.
While in the studio, Just A Gent also performed a live version of his own original single Heavy As A Heartbreak. Catch both performances in full, below.
The prodigious young producer was already touring nationally and playing festivals like Listen Out before he turned 18, and although he’s focused more closely on his time in the studio this year that didn’t stop him from throwing down a massive afternoon set in the Tiny Dancer tent at Splendour In The Grass last month.
