Watch Metallica Cover ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ In Sweden

Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett decided to pay homage to one of Sweden’s biggest acts, ABBA, while performing in Stockholm on 7th May.

On their massive WorldWired tour, which they’ve been playing in Europe since September 2017, Trujillo and Hammett took time out of what’s referred to as “Rob & Kirk Doodle” to performing a thumping cover of the band’s all-conquering hit, ‘Dancing Queen.’

The clip was professionally filmed (!!!) and you can hear the crowd erupt into cheer once that all-too-familiar melody becomes recognisable. You can even see Trujillo reading the lyrics even though we’re willing to bet a decent amount of money that he knows the words perfectly because who doesn’t?!

Only last week, Metallica delivered another surprising cover in Oslo, Norway, by covering a massive track from Norwegian band A-ha, ‘Take On Me.’

This comes after the massive news that ABBA, after 35 years, will be releasing new music this December.  “We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the studio,” they wrote in a statement. “So we did. And it was like time stood still.”

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on an Australian leg for the WorldWired tour but now we know we need it more than ever.
