Watch Shannon Noll Cheekily Explain Why ‘Coming Second’ Is Best At Adelaide Gig

Footage has emerged of Aussie singer-songwriter, Australian Idol runner-up and universal memespiration Shannon Noll using a performance in Adelaide to give a pretty cheeky speech about why ‘coming second’ is better than coming first.

Old mate Nollsie performed with a DJ at Adelaide venue Fat Controller on Thursday night, 14th July, but before he closed his set with his hit single What About Me, he asked the crowd if they wanted to hear a story, and they, of course, did.

“I just sang at the Melbourne ‘Footy Show’ Grand Final at Rod Laver Arena, and I was leaving out through the loading dock and there’s 10,000 people leaning over the top,” Nollsie tells the crowd in the footage below.

“They’re all going, ‘Nollsie, nollsie, nollsie,’ and then one guy goes, ‘Who gives a shit mate, you only come second,'” Nollsie says, before dropping the bloke-iest punchline of all blokey punchlines.

“I said, ‘I always come second dickhead, just ask me wife,'” he says, which is met with rapturous applause and laughter from the Adelaide crowd, who pretty much lose their shit. Here’s footage of the beautiful moment:

It’s unclear if Australian Idol winner and Nollsie’s arch nemesis Guy Sebastian has seen the footage of the ‘coming second’ speech, but then again…

Around 15 minutes of Nollsie’s Adelaide gig has been posted online, and it contains not only his ‘coming second’ story but also footage of him skolling a beer, covering Men At Work’s hit song Down Under and receiving multiple “Nollsie” chants. Catch the video in full, below.

Noll will be performing at The Deni Ute Muster later this year, and he’s also headlining an Oktoberfest party in Melbourne this October, for some reason.
