The Smashing Pumpkins have just dropped their new video for reunion single ‘Solara’, and honestly what the fuck is going on?
In some sort of Lynchian nightmare, it’s a video that really has to be seen to be believed. Expect the following: mimes delivering an invisible baby (?), a man in a tuxedo spewing up what looks like tar (??) and a man sitting on a lawn, tanning, seemingly enjoying the fact that he’s covered in ants (???).
‘Solara’ is, of course, the first song that Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin have recorded together since 2000. They also recently performed it on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’, along with their classic track ‘Zero’.
The song also marks new music for the band to play on their highly anticipated ‘Shiny And Oh So Bright’ reunion tour. While the main part of the tour hasn’t started just yet, the band did play a secret show earlier this week and the setlist was stacked.
Watch the ‘Solara’ video below and try not to have nightmares.
